Peter Moshay [back to producers] Peter’s first influences can be traced back to his family roots; in this case, Peter’s grandfather Joe Moshay, the renown Los Angeles orchestra leader of Music By Moshay. Picking up both the guitar and drums at the ripe age of five, it didn’t take long for Peter to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, setting the stage for his own life in music to follow. By his early teens, Peter had already started embarking on his career, albeit in the humble setting of a local music store in the San Fernando Valley. While killing time between odd jobs at the shop, Peter started learning more about the technology behind the music. By 17, he’d move up to the famed Guitar Center in LA, and it was there when he started meeting the scene’s top musicians, many of who were in need of someone with Peter’s technological knowledge. Peter started running technical sessions for many early eighties artists, setting up equipment in their own studios and providing his expertise on their record sessions. These gigs eventually led to setting up tours with Barry Manilow and manning the technology at his incredible live shows. This live experience would kick start an early career on the road and lead to an eventual expertise and passion for translating the magic of live music onto track. Throughout the eighties, Peter hit the road as a tech and consultant with some of the biggest names in popular music, including Journey, Kenny Loggins, Quiet Riot, The Cars and Hall & Oates. In 1987, Peter finally settled down and opened a studio with Daryl Hall in Pawling, New York with the specific goal of creating both records for Hall and Oates and productions for Sony Records. Over the next two decades, serving as mixer, engineer, and producer, Peter would collaborate on hundreds of albums with both big-name acts and just-starting indie artists, including ten more with Hall and Oates. To this day, Peter is renown as one of the top engineers and mixers in popular music, with a particular expertise in crafting the radio-friendly single. His love of music and deep knowledge of the craft have allowed him to work with everyone from Mariah, J-Lo and Streisand, to crafty cult favorites like Fishbone and Curtis Mayfield, to “Idol” makers Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul to "Idol" contender Ayla Brown. Peter picked up a Grammy award in 2007 for his work on BB King & Daryl Hall's duet "Ain't Nobody Home"
